Elite Space Police Officer

Pictured in this project is an original character design of an Elite Space Police Officer, who patrols the uncharted and dangerous zones of various planets. After creating myself my own brief, I began to gather reference images to help inspire my final design. Then, I went ahead and (for the first time) tried concept sketching in Photoshop. Personally, I loved the workflow as it allowed me to keep adapting and changing until I ended up with the final character concept. Next, the character was Modelled in Maya/Zbrush. In Maya, The Helmet, Neck Guard, Undershirt, and Carbon Fiber chest plates were modelled. However, the jacket and fur was modelled in Zbrush using Dynamesh and Fibermesh. All textures were created in substance painter, and were exported at a 4K resolution. Soon, I'll be porting this to Unreal Engine and updating this post with the results!

The final image was rendered in Arnold for Maya using a three-point lighting system.

A digital sketch of potential clothing designs for the character. I'd never digitally sketched before, and this proved to be a brilliant way to generate ideas!
